The National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents (NAEBA) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of the real estate buyer. Kathleen Ann and John William Corbett, THE BUYER'S CHOICE- Rhode Island’s First Exclusive Buyers Office, 1614 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln,
RI , were among the exclusive buyer agents (EBAs) from around the country who made that pledge during NAEBA's fifth annual mid-year conference in the nation's capitol.

NAEBA is a rapidly growing alliance of exclusive buyer agents practicing throughout North America. The non-profit organization was founded in 1995 to educate the public about exclusive buyer agency in real estate. NAEBA member agents provide full fiduciary services to their clients and advocate the right of consumers to be fully represented when purchasing real estate. Kathleen and John attended thought-provoking presentations conducted by nationally renowned experts in real estate, buyer agency, and related disciplines. The presentations dealt with current issues in buyer agency and focused on ways to improve the quality of representation offered by exclusive buyer agents. Commenting at the conference, Michael Gorham, President of the Association of Real Estate Licensing Law (ARELLO) said: "Due to confusion, homebuyers and sellers need a better, deeper education when it comes time to deal with real estate agent representation.” He further told the audience that there’s a good chance the average consumer will run into those who claim to be exclusive buyer agents, although their firms represent sellers as well.

During the conference 14 NAEBA members completed the rigorous educational requirements needed for the coveted designation as Certified Exclusive Buyer Agents (CEBA). Both Kathleen and John received their CEBA designation, pin and certificate from Naeba President, Richard Machado, on September 9,1999. They are the FIRST in Rhode Island with this designation. Another 12 members began the course of study available only through NAEBA. A minimum of two years is required to complete the curriculum and to acquire the mandatory experience required for certification.
